King County EMS is a World Leader in Emergency Medicine. Operating a tiered response system consisting of trained citizen response, Fire Departments providing Basic Life Support (BLS), and a mix of Fire Department and County Health Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Paramedics.
BLS units are staffed by Fire Department Emergency Medical Technicians. ALS units are staffed by Fire Department or County Health Paramedics.
