History

The first Fire Apparatus and Equipment Workshop was held in Yakima, Washington in October, 1980. It was evident by the standing-room-only gathering at this inaugural event that the Fire Service of Washington State was sincerely concerned about the status of its apparatus and desired to take an active roll in repair and maintenance.

Through the years, the elected board and committee members have strived to improve and expand a fire apparatus program to meet this need. Currently, the F.A.E.D. yearly workshop offers more than 25 courses in an extensive 5-day, 4-evening schedule. Along with this, we have a Vendors and Banquet night.

The scope of the program is a wide selection of courses in most major areas of maintenance and repair based on the philosophy that preventative maintenance insures reliability, minimizes down time and is cost effective.
